Kos Kostmayer is a novelist, screenwriter, poet and playwright. His most recent work includes a novel (FARGO BURNS) and a volume of poems (THE MARRIAGE BED). Kos has written, produced and directed for stage, film and television. His plays have been seen in New York, Los Angeles, Harare, Berlin, Toronto and at a number of American colleges and universities. Among other honors, he has received the Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle Award (Best Play), three DramaLogue Awards (two for writing, one for directing), and the Otis L. Guernsey Prize in playwriting from the Association of American Theatre Critics.

Kos wrote the screenplay for I LOVE YOU TO DEATH, a Lawrence Kasdan film featuring Kevin Kline, Tracey Ullman, Keannu Reeves, River Phoenix, William Hurt, Joan Plowright, Jack Kehler and James Gammon, and he also served for many years as supervising writer and field producer for BIG BLUE MARBLE, the Emmy Award-winning documentary television series for children.

Kos has directed a number of documentary films and plays, and his poems have appeared in Poetry Northwest, Chelsea, Commonweal and The Texas Observer. He is currently working on a book of poems, and a new novel (THE POLITICS OF NOWHERE). He is married to artist Martha Ferris, whose work has been seen in museums, galleries and public spaces around the country.
